Week 3

In last weeks tute we were introduced to the system of LMS (Learning management system). Sites and systems such as vuws, blacboard, moodle were used as examples to post resources, in order to aid students in their learning.

Once in the midi labs we were briefly taught how to use the sibelius notation program.

Now it was our turn to create an appropriated version of the song 'when doves cry'

Week 2

We started the tute with another clapping exercise which ended up being a pop song 'When doves cry'. James then played appropriated versions of the song,

Playing a hard rock version of the song, the elements of
textures, instrumentions, dynamics, growling, rhythms, distortion were different.

the third song was more of a ballad, with influences of latin music.

We then went on and learnt how to plan a lesson using garage band for year 8 students. Introducing and Adding different loops and sequences which portray different styles/genres.

James then went on and taught us ideas and methods to keep the kids interested and to show creative expression through mistakes and the use of trial & error.

Week 1

Being the first class of Secondary Method 1Y, i was intrigued to see what this unit was all about. The first hour of the class was interesting, with James introducing himself as our tutor/lecturer, he gave us a clapping exercise. The class was divided into three, where each group was given a pattern to clap which would then be expanded on by the other two groups. We moved to the next room, where we were given percussion and tuned percussion instruments to add melody to the rhythms. This is the melody and rhythmic patterns that were given to us.






The last hour of the tute was spent in an over crowded midi lab, where james taught the class how to create blogs online.
